The View from Sherlock Peoria
"I've had ups in my life, and I've had downs, but I've learned not to cry over spilled milk."
This week's Sherlock Peoria updates were six days late after an attempt to recreate an Alfred Hitchcock camera shot from the movie Spellbound resulted in a laptop with milk dripping out of it. Fortunately, Apple makes some pretty solid laptops, and days of drying out later, it's back in business.
But the laptop isn't the only thing back in business this week. After a one year hiatus, my subscription to The Baker Street Journal got renewed this week. Modernizing the Journal has been compared to turning the Titanic, as its legacy and past glories leave it both slow to change and with a few stubborn fans who consider it so unsinkable that it doesn't have to evolve with the times.
In recent months, The Baker Street Journal has sought out sponsorship of the Baker Street Babes podcast and made a few other moves to give a modern Sherlockian hope for it's future, so I'm giving it another chance. I'm leaving the 2011 issues absent from my shelves to mark the turn, but hope to have a continuing set from 2012 onward . . . if it lives up to its potential.
The times, they are a'changing. As always, I can't wait to see what's next!
