The Dorothy Stix Foreign Language Collection I was recently contacted by Dorothy Stix about her desire to sell her Sherlockian collection of foreign language translations. Dorothy's late husband, Tom was the leader of the Baker Street Irregulars. He took over for Dr. Julian Wolfe and turned over the helm to the current Wiggins, Michael Whalen. She sent me a list to look over and I offered to help her in pricing the books. Being the wife of the head of the Baker Street Irregulars allowed Dorothy to amass quite a Sherlockian collection of her own with many items from prominent Sherlockians around the world. Numerous items are signed by Dr. Wolfe. Others are signed to Tom Stix or to Dorothy. Many of the items presented their own difficulties in pricing due to their special Sherlockian value. Anything from Dr. Wolfe's' collections or Tom or Dorothy Stix's collection has a built-in added value. There are plenty of items on her list that are readily available from many of the online auction places or Sherlockian specialty vendors. What really sets the list apart the most are the whimsical and uncommon things. There is Min Kaere Watson by Henry Lauritzen, published in 1954 and inscribed “To Julian Wolff with best Sherlockian regards, Henry Lauritzen” in mint condition. Or Den Krybende Mand by Kay Nielsen published by Martin Forlag and inscribed “For Tom and Dorothy with all best wishes and thanks for a wonderful visit." Richard (Lanclyn Green). Luckily, for other Sherlockian collectors, I only collection foreign translations of the Canon or I would be putting first dibs on them. Currently the list of books for sale is about half complete. It is complete through Hebrew. Anyone who would like to see the list and reserve items can contact me or if you know Dorothy, contact her directly. This is a great offer to get ahead of the rush and add some very unique Sherlockian books to one's collection. Good luck and Happy collecting!!
