July 16 , 1895 Sherlock Holmes's Former Partner Appears In Norway With New Pal!Detective Replaced By Famed Explorer OSLO, NORWAY After over four years as a solo act, John H. Watson has teamed up once again, this time with a well-known mountaineer and explorer. When the late Mr. Sherlock Holmes died in the Swiss Alps in 1894, his best-selling biographer and companion seemed to be left without a career other than medicine to earn his bread and cheese. But after a hiatus from public prints and appearances, Watson was seen in a parade to the Royal Palace at Oslo, riding in a carriage with Rolf Sigerson whose exploits in Tibet and Persia have lutefisk-cooler chatter all over Norway. Will Watson's next chronicles be tales of his travel's with Sigerson to exotic foreign climes? Some literary critics are already speculating that a change of scenery from the same old London haunts could propel Watson to new levels of popularity with readers. Sherlock who? |
